i have been a bad blogger recently. sorry about that!!
why is this? i have been getting ready for some trips that i am going in the month of march. i am first going to winter park, colorado with the high school students. no i will not be skiing, for those of you that know how accident prone i tend to be. so i will be gone 4 days for that trip. then, a week later one of my best friends and i are leaving to go on a cruise to the bahamas!! so excited about this trip, there is a lot of preperation to it. i am sure it will be worth all the work i have put into it. i can see why being a travel agent would be a fun job, since i have done the vast majority of the planning for this trip. i am not complaining, i have enjoyed it. so, i will be gone sunday to sunday for this one.
besides getting ready for these trips my car has decided to get an attitude and stop running whenever it feels like it. so that sucks! it has always started right back up….so far. the mechanic just got done looking at it and cleaned out a bunch of gunk from my intake vales and vacuum fittings, and it ran great for a short time until it died on me twice last night. so now i have to go and get a “jug” of cleaner from him to deep clean my injection system and engine. so hopefully that will be the magic fix!! no one who has looked at the car seems to think it is anything serious, so that is good. i will take anything i can get with a 12 year old car that has a 130,000 miles on it.
so that is what has been going on with me recently. so sorry if i have neglected you as a friend, but it has been a very busy time. i still love ya, and haven’t forgotten about you….
i plan on doing some reading in Colorado and on the cruise so hopefully i will have some good blogging material when i get back.

what did you think?

i know that driving on snowy roads with winds 20-30 mph that is causing drifting, is not an easy task. HOWEVER, i would think common sense would tell someone who has lived in Illinois for any period of time, especially this winter, that you need more than, oh…30 foot of space to pull out in front of someone!!!!
i had decided to try to get to work today, and this guy pulls right in front of me! i tried to swerve gentley and hit my breaks but he slams on his causing me to have to swerve more…..i end up doing a donut into a parking lot. only by the grace of God did we not hit, and there was no one in the oncoming lane. once i stop and am trying to get my barrings back, he rolls down his window, and says “hey sorry about that, i was in another world! take it easy!!” and drives away!!! JERK!! never asked if i was ok, or anything. IN ANOTHER WORLD?!?! he was pulling out of his apartment parking lot, it’s not like he had been driving for hours.
i was so annoyed and a little shaken up so i decided to turn around and come home. did i mention this was 2 blocks from my apartment.
ok now i have vented and feel better……thanks for listening! haha!!

the past few weeks have been a hard time for me. i have been going through some hard relational times. through it all i have found that i have been blessed with great friends, an amazing family and the best parents a girl could ask for. to all of you that have been beside me through this nightmare of a ride, thank you, and know that doesn’t even begin to describe my gratitiude for all you have done for me. you have been supportive, listened to me and protective. it is awesome!! thank you so much!!
i am also very blessed with a church that is supportive and understanding. i have complained about my church a lot in the past 6 months on the way they do some things. i have stuck with it because i believe in the heart of northwoods. this past few weeks has solidified what i knew the heart of northwoods to be; loving God and loving people. they may not get it right all the time, but they got it right this time. i have felt supported, protected, prayed for and confirmed through all of this. thank you so much!!
to those of you that are reading this and have no idea what is going on…..sorry. maybe we can talk about it in person sometime.

as i mentioned earlier i am slowly reading Barack Obama’s book The Audacity of Hope. I took today off to recoup and rest from a very hectic week. this gave me the opportunity to pick this book up for a little bit this morning. Where i am in the book he talking about how we take our freedoms and liberties for granted and don’t realize how lucky we are to be Americans. I had to stop reading and ponder this statement.

“At it’s most elemental level, we understand our liberty in a negative sense. As a general rule we believe in the right to be left alone, and are suspicious of those– whether Big Brother or nosey neighbors–who want to meddle in our business. But we understand our liberty in a more positive sense as well, in the idea of opportunity and subsidiary values that help realize opportunity– all those home spun virtues that Ben Franklin first popularized in Poor Richard’s Almanack and that have continued to aspire our allegiance through sucessive generations. The values of self-reliance, self-importance and risk taking. The values of drive, discipline, temprance and hard work. The values of thrift and personal responsibilty.”
